Matthew Vlasman’s practice is focused on aerospace and aviation and involves advising and defending large U.S. component manufacturers, commercial air carriers, and maintenance facilities. He also defends general and commercial aviation matters nationwide in state and federal courts representing pilots, mechanics, airlines, charter operators, maintenance facilities, aircraft owners, airports, fixed-based operators, and airframe, engine, and component part manufacturers in personal injury, wrongful death, and regulatory matters. Matt works closely with insurers, general counsel, and in-house counsel to consistently deliver efficient, zealous defense.
Prior to joining Hinshaw, Matt practiced law at a defense litigation firm where he successfully defended product manufacturers, industrial contractors, and employers. Prior to law school, Matt spent four years teaching high school English in Indiana.

In his free time, Matt enjoys spending time with his wife and three children; an absorbing activity which leaves little room for much else most days. But when not immersed in family life, Matt finds quiet respite in his love of reading classical fiction, playing and coaching soccer, and barely staving off heart failure while watching his Indiana Hoosier basketball squad.
