Andrew Gordon Discusses Pandemic-Related Workplace Concerns Confronting Employers

Hinshaw partner Andrew Gordon was recently quoted in an article published by Florida Trend magazine titled "Workplace Concerns." Gordon addressed the host of legal issues employers are having to confront in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, including those concerning telecommuting, FMLA protections, and workplace safety.

Recognizing the broad impact of the pandemic—along with new and evolving federal legislation—Gordon suggested employers could see a substantial uptick in lawsuits. Specifically, they should expect a spike in wage and hour claims, along with wrongful termination suits and workers' compensation claims. "Employers need to step up and show that they're taking worker health and safety more seriously than they ever have," Gordon said. "Communication is key, and active measures are key."
