Hinshaw Announces Election of 16 Partners In Nine U.S. offices

U.S. law firm Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP is pleased to announce the election of 16 attorneys as new partners, effective January 1, 2021. The new partners are based in nine Hinshaw offices across the country and represent a wide range of practice areas.

Chicago

Leigh Bonsall (Labor & Employment).
A litigator who focuses her practice on employment and commercial litigation matters, Leigh defends employers against harassment, discrimination and retaliation claims, wage and hour disputes, and claims arising out of the Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA). She also handles UCC litigation and contract disputes and defends lawyers and law firms against professional malpractice claims.

Jill Eckhaus (Personal Injury & Property Damage)
A former senior public defender in the DuPage County Public Defender's Office, Jill represents hospitals, physicians, and physician groups in medical negligence and catastrophic injury matters, as well as corporate and individual insureds against medical malpractice, professional negligence, product liability, and premise liability matters. She also handles general liability, personal injury and litigation in the construction industry.

Paris Glazer (Insurance Services)
Paris focuses his national practice on insurance coverage and business litigation matters. He represents insurers on complex coverage and extra-contractual matters, and defends clients against litigation claims related to commercial general liability, professional liability, directors and officer's liability, and manuscript, captive, and reinsurance programs. He also litigates a wide range of matters, including breach of contract, fraud, employment discrimination, and health care disputes, and has conducted commercial and court-annexed arbitrations.

Vincent Rizzo (Government)
Vincent is a litigator, with an emphasis in the areas of labor and employment, personal injury and property damage, constitutional violations, and government matters. He represents entities and employees in Title VII, Section 1983 and Americans with Disabilities Act and tort claims, and has litigated numerous cases to successful resolution. He also advises employers and employees on all aspects of the employment relationship and provides training on workplace compliance and best practices.

Kevin Abbott (Health Care)
Kevin has extensive litigation experience defending healthcare professionals against medical malpractice claims. He has secured summary judgment in numerous cases for hospitals on issues involving liability, causation, and agency. He also advises hospitals and insurers on policy and procedure language related to compliance with HIPAA, the Medical Studies Act, the Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Act, as well as on other hospital matters.

Belleville/St. Louis

James Brodzik (Business Litigation)
James represents clients in life, health, and disability litigation (ERISA and non-ERISA), and consumer protection related lawsuits, including the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. He also defends physicians, lawyers, engineers, architects, and accountants against malpractice and negligence claims, and has handled numerous class action and personal injury cases in a multitude of state and federal courts. He also handles a wide range of commercial litigation matters, including products liability, premises liability and toxic tort defense.

Alyssa Johnson (Professional Responsibility, Professional Liability and Risk Management)
Alyssa defends lawyers and law firms in legal malpractice matters and also provides risk management advice to lawyers and law firms. She represents clients in consumer protection-related lawsuits, including the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA). She also defends financial advisors in disciplinary proceedings and real estate brokers in claims of misrepresentations. Matthew Corwin (Financial Services)
Matthew focuses his practice on financial services and commercial litigation matters. He represents large companies, financial institutions, and small business in consumer statutory claims, contract disputes, lender's liability, complex litigation, fraud claims, real estate controversies, and matters related to Fair Credit Billing Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, Electronic Fund Transfer Act, Telephone Consumer Protection Act, and Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

Robert Buchholz (Professional Responsibility, Professional Liability and Risk Management)
Robert is a commercial litigator whose practice focuses on representing professionals—including lawyers, accountants, real estate and insurance brokers, and others—in malpractice disputes, professional licensure matters and risk management engagements. Melissa Gillinov (Insurance Services)
Melissa handles a wide range of insurance coverage disputes in Florida's state and federal courts. She has counseled clients and conducted litigation on claims related to commercial general liability, commercial auto liability, non-trucking liability, professional liability, inland marine insurance, and excess and umbrella liability policies. She also represents brokers against E&O claims and defends policyholders in numerous disputes, including lawsuits alleging negligence and violations of the Fair Housing Act.

Ofonedu-Ime Goodwyn (Commercial Transactions)
Ofonedu is a Florida Bar Board Certified Real Estate Attorney who focuses his practice on the acquisition, development, leasing and disposition of commercial real property, secured lending transactions, corporate matters, and general commercial contract issues. He represents closely held companies, national and regional lenders, and a wide range of other clients in real estate and other business transactions. Active in his community, Ofonedu is the Board Chair of Neighborhood Housing Services of South Florida (NHSSF), a Community Development Financial Institution, which provides a full spectrum of homeownership services to help address South Florida's affordable housing crisis.

Daniel Shatz (Insurance Services)
Daniel is an experienced litigator, with a focus on complex business, intellectual property, and insurance coverage disputes. He has represented individuals and companies in a wide range of lawsuits and legal matters, including regulatory investigations and mediations, as well as evidentiary hearings and class actions in state, federal, and bankruptcy courts.

Anthony Torrente (Product Liability)
