On the Greg and Dan Show: Ambrose McCall Discusses U.S. Department of Justice's Antitrust Lawsuit Against Google

November 20, 2020

Hinshaw's Ambrose McCall appeared on the Greg and Dan Show to discuss the U.S. Department of Justice's (DOJ's) blockbuster antitrust lawsuit filed against Google. As McCall notes in the segment, Google is the default search engine on most phones—Android and iPhone alike—and has an approximate 90% share of search on mobile devices. He adds that the DOJ is alleging that that Google's anticompetitive practices result in consumers not changing their default search engine, thus stifling competing search engines' ability to compete in the marketplace. McCall explains that the DOJ appears to have broken out its playbook from its lawsuit against Microsoft almost 20 years ago in which the DOJ alleged that Microsoft illegally bundled its Internet Explorer web browser with the company's market-leading Windows operating system.
