Hinshaw's Matt Corwin served as the lead panelist for a webinar titled "NYC DCA Rule Regarding Foreign Language Services," hosted by ACA International on July 1, 2020 as part of their Daily Huddle series. The program discussed amendments to New York City's Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA) debt collection rules—which went into effect June 27, 2020—that are related to Limited English Proficiency (LEP) consumers. Corwin, who serves as the Attorney Chair for the New York State Collectors Association, covered the purpose of the new Rule. He also summarized the Rule's requirements that apply to LEP consumers in New York City regarding record keeping, affirmative acts, and prohibited practices.
