Vicente Cortesi represents corporate clients in a wide range of insurance disputes. He handles cases from inception to resolution, including during pleadings, discovery, alternative dispute resolution, motion practice, and pre-trial preparation. Recently, Vicente has focused on first-party insurance litigation.
Before joining Hinshaw, Vicente practiced at a regional full-service law firm defending Florida’s biggest insurers and other corporate clients. Vicente’s experience includes handling all aspects of first-party property, motor vehicle accident, premises liability, and other general liability cases.
Vicente also gained valuable experience while in law school as a judicial intern for the Eleventh Judicial Circuit of Florida, the Department of Homeland Security, and a nonprofit organization, which regularly takes high-impact cases to the Florida and U.S. Supreme Court. Vicente honed his courtroom skills as a certified legal intern with the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office. There, he regularly appeared before the judges, argued motions, and conducted direct and cross-examinations of witnesses. Vicente was also active in the University of Miami’s two moot court programs and the Trial Team, competing in various competitions across the United States. He used his advocacy skills to serve as a Student Advocate for the law school’s Honor Council Disciplinary Proceedings, and defended students against allegations of academic misconduct. These proceedings involved extensive written advocacy, oral advocacy, and client counseling.
