Experienced Immigration Attorney Palma Yanni Joins Hinshaw in Chicago
Palma brings four decades of experience and bolsters the firm’s capabilities.
Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP today announced that Palma Yanni has joined the firm’s immigration law team, in the Labor & Employment Practice Group, as senior counsel in Chicago. With more than 45 years of experience in all aspects of immigration, Palma represents clients across a wide range of professions, including healthcare, higher education, science, entertainment, and sports, as well as advising corporations and companies on immigration compliance issues.
“Palma is widely recognized nationwide as a leading immigration attorney,” said Hinshaw partner Ian Wagreich, who leads the firm’s immigration law team. “I’ve worked with her for many years, and her strategic insights and scope of knowledge on highly complex immigration cases and matters are of the highest order. Her addition further expands on our firm’s ability to provide sophisticated and effective immigration solutions to our clients.”
Previously, Palma managed her own firm. In addition to representing professionals from a wide range of industries, she handles complex family immigration cases and naturalization, and advises companies on immigration compliance, including I-9 audits and employment verification. She also represents clients before the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service, the U.S. Department of Labor, and consular offices of the Department of State. She decided to join Hinshaw because of her longtime working relationship with Ian Wagreich, along with the opportunity to help the firm continue to build out its immigration practice.
“Hinshaw is the right fit for my practice and my clients,” Palma said. “I have a great deal of respect for the work that Ian and his colleague, Bill Schiller, are doing. As a team, we have weathered many ebbs and flows across different Administrations, and we are well-positioned to tackle the evolving regulatory landscape and any immigration challenges currently facing clients and companies.”
In addition to her practice, Palma is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, previously serving as president and on the Board of Governors. A recognized thought leader, she has testified before Congress on immigration matters. Palma has received numerous professional accolades, including, most recently, the Susan D. Quarles AILA Service Excellence Award in 2023. She received a B.A., magna cum laude, from Mt. Holyoke College and a J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law.
