Hinshaw Attorneys and NAWL Join for "Night of Giving" Events in Chicago and San Francisco

November 16, 2010
Chicago, Illinois

Hinshaw's Women Attorneys Network (WAN) worked closely with the National Association of Women Lawyers (NAWL) in two locations late in 2010. Kathryn Vander Broek (Chicago) was part of NAWL's "Chicago Night of Giving," an event that honored women veterans. Kathy helped plan the event, and collected donations of personal items suggested by the Veterans Administration, which were then used to create gift bags that were distributed to women veterans during the holiday season. The Chicago and Joliet offices provided contributions. Jennifer Sender (Chicago), Jennifer Jackson (Chicago) attended the November event. Patricia Foster the founder of the "Girls To Women" program, helps young girls develop confidence in themselves through learning and friendship. Foster is the former mayor of East Palo Alto, the low-income annexed city next to extremely wealthy Palo Alto.

The Four Seasons donated the venue, as well as most of the cost of the food and beverages. Lexis/Nexis donated enough books, toys and games to cover a 12-foot table, and other participants donated gifts for the program that were on the Girls To Women wish list. Girls To Women was delighted and hopes that this can become an annual event.
