Brian McGrath Selected as a Distinguished Leader in the Prestigious New York Law Journal 2025 New York Legal Awards
Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP is delighted to announce that partner Brian McGrath is among the honorees selected by The New York Law Journal as Distinguished Leaders in the 2025 New York Legal Awards. McGrath, who serves as the co-chair of the firm’s Consumer Financial Services Practice Group, is among 18 attorneys selected statewide for this year’s award.
Honorees will be recognized at the 2025 New York Legal Awards dinner on September 4 at the Ziegfield Ballroom in New York City. Each year, the New York Legal Awards recognizes attorneys and judges for “dedication, innovation, and leadership that has impacted the legal profession and [who] represent the pinnacle of legal achievement across the state.”
As a member of Hinshaw’s Management and Executive Committees and as co-chair of the firm’s Strategic Growth Committee, McGrath has been instrumental in developing and implementing the firm’s current Strategic Plan. He has played a key role in the growth of the Consumer Financial Services practice group and Hinshaw’s firmwide revenue growth in 2024.
As the first openly gay leader of the Consumer Financial Services practice group, McGrath has grown the group to more than 115 attorneys nationwide, focusing on attracting top diverse talent to the firm. He has had a key role in expanding Hinshaw’s New York and New Jersey offices, and also in opening new offices in Texas and Louisiana.
In addition to his leadership roles, McGrath manages a sophisticated, national litigation practice. Recognized as a leading banking law attorney, he represents financial services companies in complex litigation matters, regulatory compliance, and mortgage servicing issues. McGrath is also a go-to resource regarding the New York State Foreclosure Abuse Prevention Act. He represented a leading mortgage servicer trade organization in an amicus filing to the New York Court of Appeals regarding a legal challenge to the law.
McGrath is a member of the New York City Bar Association and the AAA-ICDR Financial Services Advisory Committee.
