Ambrose McCall Interviewed on Employment-Related and Legal Implications of Social Media Postings

January 4, 2013

Ambrose V. McCall, a partner in the Peoria, Illinois office of Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP, was interviewed today on Peoria’s "The Greg and Dan Show," a morning show on 1470 WMBD AM radio.

The discussion focused on social media and Illinois's recent social media privacy law. Mr. McCall provided comments about the new law, right to privacy, and employment-related implications of social media communications.  He also discussed the legal implications of social media activity that may contain false or misleading statements, as well as new legislation adopted by some states that prevents public and private post-secondary educational institutions from requesting applicants or students to disclose user name or passwords to access their personal social media.  Mr. McCall also touched on copyright issues that can arise when using social media or related applications.
