Miami Herald: Andrew Gordon and Megan Coughlin Outline Steps for Employers to Prevent a Workplace Coronavirus Outbreak
Hinshaw's Andrew Gordon and Megan Coughlin recently co-authored a Miami Herald article titled "South Florida employers should brace for the potential impact of Covid-19." The pair focus on the mounting concern over the Covid-19 coronavirus, and outline steps employers can take to help prevent a viral outbreak in their workplace.
According to Gordon and Coughlin, employers—particularly those with the responsibility to maintain a safe workplace in accordance with OSHA—should brace themselves for the potential impact of the coronavirus. Covid-19 has spread to at least 24 countries, and was declared a global emergency by the World Health Organization. The authors recommend employers to limit any nonessential travel by employees to regions affected by the virus; remind employees of best practices to avoid the spread of disease; and create an "infectious disease outbreak response plan" if they have not done so already.
