Jason Oliveri Authors Article on Evolving Right to Privacy in United States

December 14, 2021

Hinshaw partner Jason Oliveri recently authored an article titled "The Evolving Right to Privacy: From Religious Practice to International Tech Branding Tool."

Published in the November/December 2021 issue of Pratt’s Privacy & Cybersecurity Law Report,” a LexisNexis publication, the article addresses the origins and evolution of a right to privacy in the United States. Oliveri explains that while there is a generally recognized right to privacy in the United States, there is much debate today as to how to balance it with allowing ample space for innovations in technology and the country’s competition with China to reign supreme in that area. Oliveri opines that establishing privacy protections may paradoxically provide the key competitive advantage in this competition with China.
