Andrew Gordon Discusses Proposed Florida Bill Focused on Addressing Frivolous COVID-19-Related Lawsuits Filed Against Health Care Providers

Hinshaw attorney Andrew Gordon was quoted in a The Daily Business Review article regarding SB 7014, a state senate bill focused on health care providers and designed "to alleviate the stress frivolous [COVID-19-related] lawsuits have imposed on the ability of the judiciary to decrease the case backlog."

Gordon believes that the bill will protect health care providers and reduce lawsuits, while also imposing reasonable safety-related requirements on those health care providers. He says that, "[t]he outcome is businesses, here in Florida, will continue to have a very reasonable framework in which to operate without the constant fear of frivolous lawsuits," adding that the proposed law "increases the burden that potential plaintiffs would have to get past in order for their lawsuit to move forward in court."
