Tom McGarry and Tom Sukowicz Author Article on Division of Loyalty in Court

September 1, 2013

Hinshaw legal malpractice lawyers Thomas P. McGarry and Thomas P. Sukowicz co-authored an article for Chicago Lawyer magazine. The article, titled "Ethics: No divided loyalty in court," addresses the increasing occurrences of a lawyer being accused of breaching a duty owed — not to his or her client, but to a third party with whom the lawyer never had an attorney-client relationship and even to a party who is adverse to the lawyer’s client.

Messrs. McGarry and Sukowicz have focused their respective practices on issues involving lawyers’ professional liability and responsibility. Their practices emphasize professional liability, legal ethics, risk management, loss prevention and the defense of lawyers in disciplinary proceedings.
