Hinshaw partner Anthony Jacob contributed the first chapter, “Considerations in Electing S Corporation Status,” in the newly released 2026 edition of the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education (IICLE) “S Corporations” handbook.
IICLE, the leading provider of continuing legal education in Illinois since 1961, publishes resources designed to support and educate Illinois attorneys on the latest developments in the legal profession.

About the Handbook

This handbook provides attorneys with essential knowledge to differentiate S Corporations from other business structures, covering tax implications, regulations, and management strategies for these pass-through entities.
The four chapters address considerations before electing S Corporation status, maintaining it post-election, and the application of passive loss rules. It also includes forms for qualified subchapter S trust elections, electing small business trust elections, shareholders’ consent for S elections, and revocation of S elections.
The handbook is available for purchase on the IICLE website.
