Hinshaw partner Frank Mazzagatti will present on “CMS Updates to HIPAA: Ensuring Compliance with Electronic Submission,” at a LeadingAge Illinois webinar on Wednesday, September 2, from 10:30 to 11:30 am CT.
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has revised the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) to reduce the non-electronic submission of supplemental documentation and enhance the protection of protected health information. Although organizations have a two-year compliance period, healthcare providers should begin preparing now to meet the requirement to electronically transmit supporting documentation by May 2028.
