Hinshaw Hosts "Marry Me a Little" Event to Celebrate the Past, Present and Future of Marriage Equality

On May 14, 2015, Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP and the firm's LGBT Affinity Network hosted the event, “Marry Me a Little.” The event took a look at the past, present and future of marriage equality for the LGBT community and was broadcast via video across the country. The event was also held live concurrently in three different offices (San Francisco, Chicago and New York) and featured prominent guest speakers in the civil rights and LGBT community including Kate Kendell, Esq., Executive Director of the National Center for Lesbian Rights (NCLR); John Knight, Director of the LGBT & AIDS Project at the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU); and Susan Sommer, Esq., National Director of Constitutional Litigation for Lambda Legal.
In Chicago, the live event featured honorary guest speaker, former Illinois Governor Pat Quinn who discussed the history of marriage equality in Illinois. Mr. Quinn was introduced by Matt Glavin, a Hinshaw alumni and recent member of the Quinn Administration. The event also featured Hinshaw attorneys who moderated the event. Todd M. Young (Chicago), Concepcion A. Montoya (New York) and Amy Jensen (San Francisco) spoke live in each of the event’s three offices and managed a Q&A session with participants in each location.
"Marry Me a Little" sponsors included the LGBT Affinity Network at Hinshaw, the NCLR, the ACLU, Lambda Legal, Out & Equal Workplace Advocates, the Windy City Dinner Fairy, Sweet Corner Bakery and Have Your Cake.
