Barbara Fernandez and Concepcion A. Montoya, partners in the Consumer Financial Services group at Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP, will present "Top FDCPA Violations all Collectors Must be Aware Of," during a webinar hosted by Lorman Education Services. The webinar will take place on March 23, 2017 from 1:00–2:00 p.m. EST.
This topic will address the most common violations of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) committed by debt collectors and law firms who collect debts owed to others. We will also provide an overview and update on the state of FDCPA litigation with a focus on recent opinions interpreting the FDCPA. This refresher on the FDCPA, with a focus on the most common violations, will assist you in dealing with FDCPA litigation and help you ensure that your business practices are in compliance with the law.

Barbara Fernandez, of Hinshaw's Miami office, focuses her litigation practice in the areas of consumer and class action litigation. She has extensive experience in the defense of individual and class action claims involving the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), Florida Consumer Collection Practices Act, Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) and practices regularly in Florida state and federal courts.
Concepcion A. Montoya, of Hinshaw's New York office, brings nearly 15 years of trial and litigation experience to her practice, specifically consumer defense and employment law. Ms. Montoya has litigated in the federal courts of New York and New Jersey in more than 40 class action lawsuits involving claims brought under various federal and state consumer and employment laws.
