About Jessica
Jessica focuses her practice on assisting mortgage lenders, servicers, and financial institutions navigate complex legal and regulatory landscapes, while defending clients in an array of civil lawsuits. Combining courtroom experience with compliance and regulatory advice, she helps clients mitigate risks, often preemptively. Jessica defends clients in state and federal litigation in claims concerning ad valorem taxes, premises liability, negligence, statutory violations, wrongful foreclosures, and consumer fraud. She also advises on consumer finance servicing, origination, payment systems compliance including Reg. E and NACHA, depository agreements, Texas home equity lending laws, Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), Fair Debt Collection Practice Act (FDCPA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Truth in Lending Act (TILA), and finance technology needs.

Experience
- Assisted a mortgage originator and servicer through a state regulatory servicing exam by supporting the development of keystone policies and procedures, and refining and preparing examination responses. This led to a score of 2 (with 1 being the best) and no material recommendations.
- Obtained summary judgment on all claims and an award for reimbursement of all attorneys’ fees. Defended mortgage servicer in federal court against breach of contract, TDCA, and face-to-face allegations.
- Created loan assumption policies and procedures and assumption agreements to comply with VA, FHA, Ginnie Mae, and USDA-backed loan programs.
