Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP is very pleased to announce that partner Mitchel Chargo has been named to the Seventh Edition of the Global Top 200 Cannabis Lawyers directory (2026/2027) by Cannabis Law Report and Cannabis Law Journal. This marks the fourth consecutive year the directory has listed Mitch among the top global legal cannabis practitioners.
About the Global Top 200 Cannabis Lawyers
Recognition among the Global Top 200 Cannabis Lawyers is based on an annual survey of clients and lawyers within the cannabis legal service sector. The publication is a resource for entities seeking to source cannabis, hemp, and CBD legal practitioners in international jurisdictions.
According to the directory, it aims “to balance client recommendations and editorial decisions with as wide a geographical spread as possible to allow prospective clients to source cannabis, hemp & CBD legal specialists in the jurisdictions they wish to do their business.”
About Mitch
With more than three decades of legal experience, Mitch focuses his practice on commercial real estate, business transactions, and cannabis regulatory affairs. He represents clients, including a tribal nation, on a range of legal matters related to Minnesota's cannabis legal framework, including regulatory compliance, licensing, financing, real estate, and corporate governance.
Before joining Hinshaw, Mitch served as in-house general counsel for a Minnesota medical cannabis manufacturer, managing regulatory, corporate, and real estate matters. Since joining Hinshaw, he has also served as legal advisor to a tribal nation and helped negotiate a historic cannabis compact—the first in the United States to permit tribal cannabis operations beyond sovereign land.
He is an active member of the Indigenous Cannabis Industry Association's Board of Directors. Mitch’s additional accolades include recognition in the 2026 and 2027 editions of The Best Lawyers in America® for Real Estate Law, selection as a Minnesota Super Lawyer in 2026 and 2027 in cannabis, selection as a Twin Cities Business 2025 Notable Partner in Law, and designation as one of Minnesota Monthly's Top Lawyers for Real Estate Law in Minnesota from 2024 to 2026.
