The U.S. law firm of Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP is pleased to announce that partner Ophir Johna was recently named to the 2017 Fellowship Class of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD). LCLD was formed in 2009 to take action towards materially improving the legal profession's diversity and inclusion performance. Its membership consists of the managing partners of prominent U.S. law firms as well as the general counsel of major corporations. Hinshaw was a founding member of LCLD.
Ophir is the seventh Hinshaw attorney to be selected for the Fellowship. Prior firm inductees included Dianne E. Webster, Nabil G. Foster, William Yu, Corrinne C. Heggie, Jenny H. Wang and David Alfini. Ophir focuses his practice in the areas of life (including STOLI and IOLI actions), health, disability, and long-term care disputes ranging from matters involving bad faith and punitive damage exposure to ERISA-governed litigation. He also has experience in matters involving agent and broker sales practices as well as insurance and annuity suitability.
"I'm honored and grateful for the opportunity to participate in the LCLD Fellowship program," said Ophir. "Since I began my legal career, I have been the beneficiary of mentorship from firm leaders and colleagues. Serving as a 2017 LCLD Fellow represents a great opportunity for me to pay that support forward."
"We're proud of what Ophir has accomplished and really enjoy having him as a colleague," added DL Morriss, Hinshaw Diversity and Inclusion Partner. "We're also gratified at the opportunity to partner with LCLD in its mission to improve our profession's diversity and inclusion performance. Accountability and a clear understanding of the business benefits of a diverse workforce are crucial drivers in the process, and Hinshaw is strongly committed to advancing the ball further down this field."
Ophir is a graduate of Southwestern University School of Law (J.D.) and the University of California, Los Angeles (B.A.). He is admitted to practice in California and the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Central, Eastern and Southern Districts of California.
