Hinshaw Partner Marissa Delinks Named to Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly 2021 Top Women of Law

The U.S. law firm Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP today announced that partner Marissa I. Delinks was selected by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly 2021 as one of their Top Women of Law. Each year, Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly Top Women of Law recognizes the achievements of 50 exceptional women lawyers who are pioneers, educators, trailblazers, and role models.

Delinks's practice focuses on appellate law and professional liability defense and risk management for lawyers and law firms. She has an impressive appellate track record within the last 16 years, having handled 160 appeals, and won 155 of them, a 97 percent success rate. A native of Massachusetts, Delinks joined Hinshaw's Fort Lauderdale, Florida, office in 2002. She later returned to her home state and helped open the firm's Boston office in 2005. She has served as a member of Hinshaw's Executive Committee and was head of the firm's Professional Lines Practice Group, which later became part of the Professional Responsibility, Professional Liability & Risk Management (PRPLRM) Practice Group. She currently serves as co-chair of the PRPLRM group and is also a member of the firm's Pro Bono Committee, serving as coordinator of the Northeast region since 2009.

In her leadership role with the Pro Bono Committee, she manages pro bono projects for the Boston, Rhode Island, and New York offices and personally handles two or three pro bono cases each year. Recently, she successfully settled a highly publicized pro bono case through the Youth Advocacy Foundation. She currently represents the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law in its federal lawsuit against the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service for its failure to respond to LCR's request under the Freedom of Information Act. LCR had sought information concerning the Trump Administration's proposed regulatory changes to the definition of a "public charge" inadmissible to admission to the country under federal law.

In addition to a heavy caseload, pro bono work, and leadership responsibilities, Delinks is also on the planning committee and serves as a panelist each year for Hinshaw's annual Legal Malpractice & Risk Management Conference (LMRM). Since 2007, she has served as a mentor to numerous associates and she also serves as an affinity mentor to the firm's Women's Affinity Network. As a member of Hinshaw University faculty, she teaches legal writing and provides writing seminars to associates in various practice groups.
