Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP is pleased to announce the arrival of Julie Amos as the new Chief Marketing & Business Development Officer, based in Chicago, and Karen Kleiman as the Director of Attorney Recruiting and Development, based in the firm's Milwaukee office.
Amos will lead Hinshaw's marketing and business development department. Kleiman will oversee the firm's attorney recruitment and professional development initiatives.
"The firm's continued growth is central to our strategic plan," said Hinshaw Chairman Peter Sullivan. "Julie has a wealth of experience leading successful marketing efforts, building high-performing business development teams, and driving growth for a number of Am Law 100 law firms. Karen brings more than 20 years of experience in both law firm recruitment and professional development that will help us recruit and retain top talent. We're very excited to work with these two accomplished professionals to achieve the firm's strategic business goals."
Amos previously has served in marketing leadership roles at Am Law 100 and mid-sized firms, recently including Greenberg Traurig, Jackson Lewis, Becker LLP, and Parker Hudson. She has a reputation for building and leading effective marketing and business development teams, creating innovative client development strategies and branding programs, and overseeing firmwide business development operations.
"Hinshaw's recent growth in strategic markets, revenue, and headcount is impressive," Amos said. "It's a very exciting time to join the firm, and I'm looking forward to helping elevate Hinshaw's brand and drive continued business growth across the firm's national platform."
Amos received a BSc in psychology from the University of Plymouth, United Kingdom.
Formerly a practicing lawyer for 10 years, Kleiman worked in various recruitment and professional development roles at Am Law 100 and 200 firms, including Foley & Lardner and WilmerHale, as well as a national legal executive search firm. Over the past two decades, she has designed attorney recruiting systems, developed onboarding programs to accelerate integration, and advised law firms on developing leadership pipelines to increase retention and attorney success.
"I was attracted to Hinshaw because the firm offers me a great opportunity to combine my background in recruitment and professional development into one position," Kleiman said. "Many firms separate the two functions. I'm excited to work with attorneys throughout their recruitment and hiring process and then continue that relationship as they advance their careers and help the firm meet its goals for strategic growth."
Kleiman received a B.A. in criminal justice from Tulane University and a J.D. from the University of Florida Frederic G. Levin College of Law. In addition to private law practice, she served as deputy district attorney in the District Attorney's Office, 5th Judicial District in Eagle County, Colorado, for three years and as assistant attorney general in the Office of Attorney General Tom Reilly for two years.
