Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP is pleased to announce that Tara Cook has joined the firm as the Chief Information Officer. As a resident in the New York office, Tara brings more than 25 years of experience in information systems, along with two decades of IT leadership experience in the legal industry.
Prior to joining Hinshaw, Tara launched TSC Consulting Services, where she advised organizations on aligning technology strategy with business goals, streamlining operations, and adapting new innovative technologies.
“Tara has a proven track record of driving operational excellence, fostering innovation, and enabling growth within organizations,” said firm Chairman Peter Sullivan. “We are thrilled that she has joined the firm, and the firm’s management team looks forward to working with her to advance the firm’s technology capabilities, which will assist our attorneys and enable us to continue providing the highest level of client service.”
Tara previously served as CIO at Proskauer Rose and Director of Information Technology at Dewey & LeBoeuf. At Hinshaw, she will direct all aspects of the firm’s IT functions, including security, risk management, knowledge management, and E-Discovery. In addition, she will work with Hinshaw’s leadership team to assess the broader adoption of technology, including artificial intelligence (AI), and the utilization of technology to support the continued growth of the firm.
She decided to join Hinshaw due to the firm’s collaborative and collegial culture, its national footprint, and its strategic approach to growing the business.
“Hinshaw is a very collaborative and inclusive place, values that are very important to me,” said Tara. “I have long admired Tracy Elmblad, Hinshaw’s COO, as a leader and innovator in our industry, and we have a great rapport. I’m excited to work with her and the firm’s information technology team to help Hinshaw advance to the next level in the rapidly evolving technology landscape.”
Tara serves on the International Legal Technology Association Technology Committee and has mentored women in technology throughout her career. She received a B.S. in Information Systems from Ramapo College of New Jersey and an M.S. in Information Systems from Stevens Institute of Technology. She is also a certified Project Management Professional and has completed executive coursework in AI from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
