The U.S. law firm of Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP is very pleased to announce that partner Colleen Jarrott has been appointed to serve as a Council Member of the Louisiana State Law Institute (LSLI).
The LSLI Council comprises of ex-officio and elected members representing all branches of state government and the legal profession. The executive branch is represented by the Louisiana Attorney General and the Louisiana Governor's executive counsel, while the Legislature is represented by the chairs of the House and Senate judiciary committees. The Council oversees revisions and proposals for key Louisiana legal frameworks, including the Civil Procedure, Evidence, and Civil Codes.
As one of only 25 representatives for New Orleans, Jarrott's appointment also grants her a seat in the American Bar Association's House of Delegates. The House of Delegates drafts, debates, and votes on resolutions that establish Association policy on professional and public issues. It represents not only various groups within the Association but also the legal profession as a whole and includes delegates from state, local, and specialty bars.
Jarrott is a partner and co-leader of Hinshaw's Energy and Environment industry groups. She advises Louisiana energy companies on oil and gas, carbon capture, utilization, and sequestration (CCUS), and energy transition issues. In addition to her law practice, she serves on Hinshaw's Succession Planning Committee, contributes to firm strategy, and is active in Louisiana legislative efforts.
