Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP is delighted to announce that Ali Degan has been elected to the Fellows of the American Bar Foundation (ABF). Membership is limited to one percent of lawyers licensed to practice in each jurisdiction. Members are nominated by their peers and selected by the ABF Board.
About the ABF Fellows
The ABF Fellows is a global honorary society recognizing attorneys, judges, law faculty, and legal scholars for their exceptional dedication to the legal profession and public service.
Fellows from across nearly 40 countries serve as stewards of the American Bar Foundation, an independent nonprofit research organization dedicated to advancing justice and the understanding of law through empirical socio-legal research, publications, and programs focused on legal practice, access to justice, and lawmaking.
About Ali
Ali is a litigator representing financial institutions and mortgage servicers in contested foreclosure proceedings and complex real estate disputes. He advises clients on consumer claims arising under federal and state statutes, including the FDCPA, RESPA, FCRA, and TILA. Drawing on earlier civil litigation experience in product liability and insurance defense in Louisiana, Ali now concentrates his New York practice on high‑stakes real property and creditors’ rights matters, frequently advocating for institutional clients in court.
In addition, Ali co-chairs the ABA’s Mortgage & Foreclosure Subcommittee and the LGBT Law and Litigator Committee. He also serves as a Mentoring Circle Leader for New York through the Judicial Intern Opportunity Program and was selected for the ABA Litigation Section’s Young Lawyer Leadership Program from 2019 to 2021. Ali is an active member of the New York State Bar Association and the Iranian American Bar Association.
