Sergio E. Acosta, the Chicago-based chair of the Government Practice Group at Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP, was quoted in the WBEZ 91.5 Chicago radio story, "After Prison, Would-be ISIS Recruit Faces Internet Restrictions--Like Xbox." The piece, which aired on November 8, 2016, focuses on the criminal case against Mohammed Hamzah Khan, whom the federal government says tried to fly overseas to join the Islamic State terrorism group.
Based on Khan's cooperation in the case, federal prosecutors recently recommend a reduced prison term of five years' prison, plus up to 15 years of supervision, including monitoring of Khan's digital life. Said Acosta in the piece, "[t]he length and the extent of detail in there as far as the type of monitoring that he is agreeing to succumb to is very unusual."
