Hinshaw's Russ Klingaman, who focuses his practice on aviation and business law, recently authored an article titled "Wisconsin's New Aviation-Specific Mechanic's Lien Law," which was published by Midwest Flyer Magazine.
Earlier this year, the 2019 Wisconsin Act 103 was signed into law. The act included a new aircraft-related lien law. Klingaman describes the influence his writing on the topic had on the new legislation, and also describes the details of the new lien law provisions. He expressed satisfaction with the progress the new law represents: "It is good news for the Wisconsin aviation community that Wisconsin has joined the list of almost 40 other states with mechanic's lien laws that allow persons who work on and/or store aircraft to have their liens registered with the FAA Aircraft Registry."
