Richard Porter Quoted in Article Discussing Lawsuit Opposing Macon County (Illinois) Wind Farm

Richard S. Porter, a partner in the Environmental Practice of Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP, was quoted in the article "Landowners Demand Court Review of Wind Farm Project," published on December 9, 2015 in Herald & Review. The article discusses a lawsuit filed by a group of landowners objecting to the development of a 139-turbine wind farm in Macon County, Illinois at its proposed location near Maroa and Warrensburg.
Plaintiffs — who are represented by Mr. Porter — contend in a petition for review that "Macon County officials failed to provide statutory notices for a public hearing as well as essential information in-regard to the proposed wind farm project." Says Mr. Porter, "I have never seen such an egregious violation of due process." He also "noted how the potential wind farms would affect the plaintiffs' property values and that the public gain from the turbines would be minimal compared to the hardships imposed on landowners." Plaintiffs note that those hardships could include shadow flickers, negative effects on wildlife, and "potential negative health effects from insistent noise and infrasound."
