In part two of their series on legal issues confronting the Minnesota horse industry, Hinshaw partners Suzanne Jones and Yvonne Ocrant provide guidance and tips for limiting liability beyond statutory immunity. The article is titled "Limiting Your Equine Liability Under Minnesota Law," and appears in the University of Minnesota Equine Extension Newsletter and Farm Forum.
Jones and Ocrant counsel those active in the equine world of Minnesota that one of the best ways to limit liability is to put your intent in writing. They provide practical tips for using a written document to limit liability, including clearly stating what the document provides, identifying parties to the document and stating the effective date or term of the agreement.
