Hinshaw attorney Vaishali Rao is profiled in today's Chicago Daily Law Bulletin. In the profile, Vaishali talks about transitioning to private practice from the office of the Illinois Attorney General. While working under then-Attorney General Lisa Madigan, Vaishali managed a series of multistate litigations on consumer protection issues.
Vaishali said that she has embraced the opportunity to work with businesses to help them develop best practices to avoid major regulatory and compliance issues. She noted that her strengths as a prosecutor have translated well to private practice:
I can appreciate the other side of an argument even through the noise of personality clashes and political subtexts. Because I understand my adversaries and their goals, I can identify the real issues at stake more efficiently.
She concludes with the observation that a career is a journey with detours. So far, she has been following her passion for: ideas, leading people, identifying solutions, having a part in high stakes situations, achieving outcomes and building relationships.
