Hinshaw attorney Art Laplante—a partner in our Fort Lauderdale office—was recently profiled by the Daily Business Review. In the profile, Laplante discusses his 30-plus years with Hinshaw, how a book series propelled him into a lifelong career in the law, and why trust and credibility are such important attributes for any successful trial lawyer.
The profile describes a man who has long had a passion for travel, adventure and hard work; whether it be backpacking in Europe before law school, working the 4 am shift at UPS as a law student, or representing drilling contractor Transocean in an MDL resulting from the Deepwater Horizon incident.
"One of the things I love about being a lawyer is that in providing defense to someone, I have to know their business as well as they do," said Laplante. Developing a relationship with jurors is another key to his courtroom success: "When it comes time to ask [the jury] to go ahead and reach a verdict, they trust I'm credible and believable in what I ask them to do."
