Anthony Davis authored a Bloomberg Big Law Business article titled "The Role of Law Firm GCs is Expanding." In the article, Davis reviews the evolving role of General Counsel (GC) and Chief Legal Officers (CLO), and their importance in addressing "the panoply of enterprise risk management issues."
Davis focuses on three notable problems posed by governmental regulation including: the need to understand and address human rights laws, particularly when clients are involved in global supply chains; the potential risks for law firms posed by anti-money laundering and corruption regulations; and, more generally, all the risks faced by law firms in connection with the potential for breaches of their cyber security systems. Davis argues that the role and range of responsibility of law firm GCs and CLOs is "growing commensurately" because of these risk management issues and is "increasingly critical to the success, and perhaps even the survival of the firms they serve."
