Hinshaw and WLALA Host "Dress for Success" Clothing Drive in Los Angeles
Event
Oct 22, 2010
Wendy Chang (Los Angeles) represented Hinshaw's Asian Pacific American Affinity Network on October 22, 2010 at the "Dress for Success" drive with the Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles (WLALA). Hinshaw was a co-host of the event.
The theme of the evening was a woman-owned business (Suit Closet), and a women lawyers association (WLALA) working together to assist women in need. Suit Closet is an organization whose mission it is to promote the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life. Her idea was to create a one-stop shop for busy professional women to go to buy suits - without having to drive all over Los Angeles.
The "Dress for Success" collection was huge: a truck-bed load of clothing and accessories! It was a low key evening, with women shopping and mingling.
In addition, Wendy spearheaded a clothing drive at the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA) convention that benefited both Dress for Success, and Clothes the Deal. Hinshaw client, Travelers Insurance Company supported the drive as a national, company-wide drive to support NAPABA. Travelers donated more than 50 boxes of clothing to the drive.
