About Stephen
Stephen has devoted his entire practice to real estate law and the companies operating in that industry. He handles project development, commercial lending, construction litigation, corporate organization and governance, as well as contracts and environmental compliance matters.

Areas of Focus
Experience
- Represented insurance companies in commercial mortgage loans being made in Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Florida. The loans include shopping centers, apartment buildings and industrial developments. These transactions average about $200,000,000.00 per year in aggregate loan amounts.
- Represented landlords and tenants in the negotiation of commercial leases for office space, industrial properties, retail spaces and other types of property.
- Represented an insurance company in joint ventures, including projects with tenants such as DHL, Bally, and Airborne Express.
- Represented a foreign nation in the negotiation of a long term lease for office space intended to be used as a consulate in the United States. The $5 million transaction involved resolving sovereign immunity issues in a manner that did not require a waiver of sovereign immunity rights and obtaining US State Department authorization pursuant to 22 USC. § 4305 which was needed to acquire the lease.
- Represented buyer in acquisition of 542 acres of farmland, hunting ground, and conservation reserve land. The transaction involved dealing with crop assignment and easement issues, and the Federal Conservation Reserve Program.
- Represented seller in sophisticated multi-state transaction involving the sale and leaseback of 17 separate industrial properties, including the preparation and negotiation of all 17 individual leases valued at $36.5 million. The properties were spread across 13 states located in the Midwest and South. All portions of the transaction closed simultaneously.
