About Cathy

Cathy helps clients find effective, compliant solutions to privacy, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence (AI) issues—regulatory, contractual, and operational. Her practice focuses on both proactive and reactive compliance in AI, privacy, and cybersecurity across industries, including advertising and marketing, e-commerce, financial services, health care, automotive, and insurance.

She develops client-centric solutions that address:

  • Risk assessments and risk quantification
  • Supply chain and contract management
  • Service provider, processor, and third-party compliance
  • Privacy and security by design

Cathy brings a practical lens to solving complex compliance challenges, informed by her experience as in-house and general counsel at Fortune 500 companies that include an ad agency, financial services and software firms, and an ad tech startup. Early in her career, she served as a law clerk for the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.

  • Advised an advertising agency on mitigating a state wiretapping class action litigation exposure and achieving compliance with state privacy laws.
  • Represented a debt collector in responding to a data breach involving over 100,000 consumers, including managing regulatory notifications and remediation.
  • Represented a tech provider in analyzing mitigating customer risk related to a ransomware attack. · Counsel an AI compliance platform on global regulatory frameworks, governance requirements, best practices, and risk mitigation.
  • Developed a data protection compliance strategy for a multinational consumer products and IOT provider, and ensured compliance with e-commerce subscription marketing requirements.
