Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP today announced that Evan M. Kwarta has joined the firm's Aviation and Aerospace industry group as a partner in New York. Previously with Condon & Forsyth LLP, he brings significant experience representing leading international aviation companies with complex litigation and regulatory compliance issues.
Hinshaw established its Aviation and Aerospace industry group in April with the addition of 23 lawyers when it combined with Adler Murphy & McQuillen in Chicago.
"With Evan in New York, Hinshaw now has a local aviation law presence in one of the world's busiest aviation industry locations," said Michael G. McQuillen, leader of the firm's Aviation and Aerospace group. "The aviation and aerospace sectors confront significant legal challenges and regulatory scrutiny. Evan bolsters our practice with significant litigation experience in New York state courts and in state and federal courts across the country. We're delighted that he has joined the team."
Kwarta has over 15 years of experience handling complex commercial litigation, mass tort, and product liability matters. He represents various aviation companies, including airlines, aircraft lessors, aircraft and components manufacturers, aviation defense contractors, and insurers before state and federal courts. He also advises companies on various regulatory compliance matters and disputes.
Hinshaw's highly regarded aviation and aerospace legal team and broad geographic footprint in several key industry markets were among the reasons Kwarta decided to join the firm.
"I could not pass up the opportunity to join such a talented group of attorneys and one of the leading aviation and aerospace practices in the country," Kwarta said. "My experience and practice perfectly complement the firm's existing work and capabilities, and joining Hinshaw provides me with the opportunity to continue growing my practice."
Prior to joining Condon & Forsyth in 2008, Kwarta practiced at Graubard Miller for two years. He received a B.A. in political science from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and a J.D. from Emory University School of Law. While in law school, he served as a summer intern for Hon. Viktor V. Pohorelsky (Ret.), U.S. Magistrate Judge in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York.
"Evan's practice and experience will benefit many of the firm's clients here on the East Coast," said Schuyler Kraus, partner-in-charge of the New York office. "Attracting top talent to our team in New York remains a strategic priority. We're excited to welcome Evan as a colleague."
