The law firm of Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP is pleased to announce that Partner Corey Berkin has joined the Florida Bar's Seventeenth Circuit Grievance Committee 'H' and will serve as an attorney committee member through February 2027.
Florida has 20 judicial circuits, each of which has at least one grievance committee. These committees are made up of volunteer members, at least one-third of whom are non-lawyers. The committee reviews complaints in a similar manner to a grand jury. Once a case is submitted to the committee by bar counsel, they review it to determine if there is probable cause to believe that a lawyer violated the professional conduct rules established by the Supreme Court of Florida. If so, they also determine if disciplinary action is warranted against the lawyer.
Elected as a new Hinshaw partner in January 2024, Berkin counsels insurance carriers on a wide range of coverage and bad faith matters in first and third-party settings. His experience includes all phases of litigation, and his practice largely covers matters in the Southeast. Before joining Hinshaw, Berkin was a law clerk to United States District Judge Beth Bloom and practiced with a Miami-based AmLaw 100 national law firm, where he worked on a variety of criminal and civil matters. In addition to litigating insurance-related cases, he handled municipal law, civil rights, complex commercial disputes, and premises liability and tort actions.
