Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP today announced that Charles "Chuck" W. Miller III has joined the Consumer Financial Services Practice Group as a partner in the Iselin, New Jersey, and New York City offices. Formerly with Parker Ibrahim & Berg (PIB Law), Miller also served as vice president and assistant general counsel at JPMorgan Chase earlier in his career and has extensive experience representing banks, mortgage servicers, lenders, and other financial services companies in a wide range of litigation matters.
"With more than 30 years of commercial litigation experience, Chuck adds to the depth of our financial services practice on the East Coast," said Justin Penn, leader of Hinshaw's Consumer Financial Services Practice Group. "His in-house experience, coupled with his significant litigation background, complements our existing team in the financial services sector, and his insider's perspective will be helpful to our clients and our team."
A seasoned trial attorney, Miller advises financial services companies in a broad range of matters, focusing on litigation related to loans and mortgages. He represents clients in both state and federal courts in New Jersey and New York and has extensive experience managing in-house counsel teams nationwide. Over the course of his career, his commercial litigation practice has ranged across industry sectors, including insurance and medical device companies.
While at PIB Law, Miller worked closely with Ben Raindorf, who moved to Hinshaw last summer with seven other attorneys, including partners Anthony Scali, Mitchell Zipkin, and Robert Bailey.
"I worked closely with Ben and the team over the years, and so moving to Hinshaw is a great opportunity," Miller said. "Earlier in my career, I became very familiar with Hinshaw as a significant presence in our industry and have always had great respect for the firm and its talented litigators. With my in-house experience, I can offer a big picture perspective into our clients' business concerns and provide tailored insights into managing any litigation issue that presents itself."
Prior to joining PIB Law in 2016, Miller was in-house counsel and later vice president and assistant general counsel at JPMorgan Chase from 2010-2015. Previously, he practiced law at New Jersey firms including Norris McLaughlin & Marcus and Golden Rothschild Spagnola & DiFazio. He earned his B.A. in psychology from Princeton University and his J.D. from Washington and Lee University School of Law.
An avid runner, he has completed numerous distance runs, including many marathons and also a 50-mile race.
"Chuck has a broad scope of litigation experience that adds substantial depth to our capabilities in New York and New Jersey," said Schuyler Kraus, co-managing partner of the New York and New Jersey offices. "We're delighted that he has joined the team."
