The national law firm of Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP is pleased to announce that it has been given a perfect score of 100 on the 2019 Corporate Equality Index (CEI) and that it has been named one of the "Best Places to Work for LGBTQ Equality." The firm has received a 100 percent rating on the CEI for 10 consecutive years.
"Hinshaw's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion are central to the firm's culture," said Firm Chairman Peter Sullivan. "Every year that we have received this rating serves as external validation of our efforts to ensure LGBTQ rights are a priority at our firm," added Todd Young, who is a member of the firm's Management Committee and Co-Chair of the firm's LGBTQ Affinity Network.
The CEI is administered by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation. It is a national benchmarking survey, which evaluates policies and practices including non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive health care benefits, competency programs, and public engagement with the LGBTQ community. Hinshaw joins more than 560 major businesses nationwide in achieving the 100 percent ranking this year.
"I've invested much of my career here and this recognition highlights the kind of support the firm has been committed to over the years," said Partner David Alfini, who serves as Co-Chair alongside Young. "Ten years is a big deal," added Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Partner D.L. Morriss. "We intend to celebrate this achievement with clients and friends as we continue to strive for even greater advancement of our LGBTQ initiatives at the firm."
Since 1980, the HRC has sought to improve the lives of LGBTQ Americans by advocating for equal rights and benefits in the workplace, ensuring families are treated equally under the law and increasing public support among all Americans through innovative advocacy, education, and outreach programs.
