Sergio Acosta Named to City of Chicago's Ethics Reform Task Force

Sergio E. Acosta, a Partner in the Chicago office of Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP and a member of the firm's White Collar Crime Group, has been named to the City of Chicago's Ethics Reform Task Force. As a member of the task force, Mr. Acosta will help determine the best way to strengthen the city's ethics ordinance. This will entail assessing the current ordinance over the next four months and then considering best practices nationally and recommending how to strengthen the law to ensure adequate oversight of government activity.
Mr. Acosta represents individuals and businesses in white collar crime, corporate governance, corporate investigations, regulatory enforcement and gaming law. He has worked in concert with many state and federal agencies, including the U.S. Department of Justice, Internal Revenue Service, Illinois Department of Revenue, Illinois State Police and all of the federal law enforcement agencies. A highly experienced public servant, Mr. Acosta has held high-level positions in the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Illinois and the Dade County (Florida) State Attorney's Office. He also served as Administrator of the Illinois Gaming Board.
