Raylene DeWitte Grischow Appointed to Illinois Supreme Court Committee on Professional Responsibility

Springfield, Ill. – Raylene DeWitte Grischow, has been appointed by Illinois Supreme Court Justice, Rita Garman, to serve as a member on the Supreme Court Committee on Professional Responsibility (Committee). Her term became effective on January 1, 2012, and runs until December 31, 2014.
The Committee was established to promote among Illinois lawyers and judges the principles of integrity, professionalism and civility; to foster commitment to the elimination of bias and divisiveness within the legal and judicial systems; and to ensure that those systems provide equitable, effective and efficient resolution of problems and disputes for the people of Illinois. Its duties include, among others: (1) creating and promoting an awareness of professionalism by all members of the Illinois bar and bench; (2) gathering and maintaining information to serve as a resource on professionalism for lawyers, judges, court personnel, and members of the public; and (3) developing public statements on principles of ethical and professional responsibility for distribution to the bench and bar for purposes of encouraging, guiding and assisting individual lawyers, law firms and bar associations on the ethical and professional tenets of the profession.
Ms. Grischow maintains an active trial practice which includes commercial litigation, employment litigation, municipal law and the defense of matters involving general liability, personal injury, automobile liability, premises liability and property damage claims. She is also the attorney for the city of Auburn, Illinois.
Ms. Grischow earned her J.D. in 1998 from Washington University in St. Louis, and her B.S. from Illinois State University in 1994.
