Cardin Public Service Award. The award is given to a University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law alum who has demonstrated significant contributions to furthering the ideals of public service in the law. This annual award was created in 1986 and renamed in 1988 to recognize Maryland Senator Benjamin L. Cardin’s exemplary legal services leadership and public service.

In other instances, her legal assistance culminated in positive, life-altering results for the individuals and families she represented.
Both in the courtroom and outside of it, Ms. Baker has been dedicated to advancing domestic violence awareness and prevention, children’s advocacy, the literary arts and women’s studies, and has channeled her many efforts in this regard through several organizations. She takes pro bono appointments from judges in Miami-Dade County and participates in Dade Legal Aid’s Put Something Back program.
