The law firm of Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP is pleased to announce that Ft. Lauderdale litigation partner Jenelle E. La Chuisa has been appointed to the Board of Directors of Legal Aid Service of Broward County.
"We are proud to work alongside dedicated legal professionals who make a profound impact on our clients and the community," said Debra T. Koprowski, Executive Director of Legal Aid Service of Broward County. "Jenelle is truly a pro bono 'rock star' and we thank and congratulate her on her outstanding service to those in need."
Legal Aid Service of Broward County Board Members are talented leaders committed and motivated to supporting the organization's mission and promoting and expanding its success into the future. Board Members play a vital role in expanding access to justice for the most vulnerable members of the community.
La Chuisa is a litigator and arbitrator representing individuals and companies in international and domestic business and insurance disputes.
La Chuisa co-chairs Hinshaw's Pro Bono and Community Involvement Committee in Ft. Lauderdale, where she facilitates volunteer opportunities for pro bono projects and community events along with committee co-chair and partner John Weedon.
In January 2025, The Florida Bar selected La Chuisa as the recipient of the 2025 President's Pro Bono Service Award in the 17th Judicial Circuit (Broward County). Each year, The Florida Bar and the Florida Supreme Court honor and recognize lawyers, groups, and members of the judiciary who have freely given their time and expertise to ensure access to justice for those who otherwise could not afford it.
In September 2024, La Chuisa received the 2024 Russell E. Carlisle Advocacy Award from the Legal Aid Service of Broward County. This award is given annually to an advocate whose actions exemplify a personal and professional commitment to making justice available to the poor and disadvantaged. Hinshaw's Fort Lauderdale office was named the 2024 Legal Aid Service of Broward County's Law Firm of the Year, which is presented annually to a firm that has shown its overall commitment to the organization's work and the clients it serves.
La Chuisa and Hinshaw attorneys have volunteered for the Broward Lawyers Care Legal Aid Hotline, answering questions about family law, consumer law, real property law, bankruptcy, housing, and tax/IRS controversies. Further, Hinshaw attorneys also donated time assisting returning citizens in restoring their right to vote through the Florida Rights Restoration Coalition, which is committed to ending the disenfranchisement and discrimination against people with convictions.
