Hinshaw's David Alfini Honored as one of Crain's Chicago 2020 Notable LGBTQ Executives

The U.S. law firm of Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP today announced that David Alfini, partner and co-leader of the firm's Long-Term Care and Aging Services Law Practice, was selected among 2020 Notable LGBTQ Executives by Crain's Chicago Business. Alfini's practice focuses on products liability defense and the defense of nursing homes, long-term care facilities, and home care companies.

"David has long been a strong advocate for workplace equality at Hinshaw, serving as co-chair of our LGBTQ Affinity Group, and also as a member of the team that helped our firm obtain a 100% rating on the Human Rights Campaign's Corporate Equality Index for 10 consecutive years. He is a tireless advocate outside the firm as well, devoting his time and talents in leadership roles to a number of civic organizations."

After earning his J.D. from Indiana University School of Law in 2000, Alfini joined Hinshaw as a summer associate and has spent his legal career at the firm. In addition to his active legal practice, he co-chairs the firm's Mentoring Committee. He was selected in 2016 as a Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) fellow.

Alfini has successfully connected his aging services practice with his work to support the LGBTQ community. He is secretary of the board for OneRoof Chicago, which works to provide inclusive, intergenerational housing for LBGTQ seniors and at-risk youth. He has served on panels and presents workshops for LeadingAge Illinois to highlight issues impacting senior care, with a focus on LGBTQ seniors. As chair of the programming board for StartOut Chicago, he manages several events annually to foster economic empowerment of LGBTQ entrepreneurs and business owners.

Each year, Crain's Notable LGBTQ Executives recognizes leaders from various industry sectors, including law, finance, technology, media, nonprofits, the arts and others. The honorees live and work in Chicago, serve in a senior role in their organizations, hold a senior leadership position in their industry outside of their organizations, act as a mentor or role model, and have demonstrated the power to advance their industries, workplace equality and civic engagement in Chicago.
