The law firm of Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP is proud to announce that the firm has been recognized as a Mansfield Rule Certified Law Firm for the third consecutive year. Diversity Lab, the managing organization of the Mansfield Certification initiative, also named Hinshaw a "Trendsetter" firm, a category for firms that have achieved certification and have remained committed to the program for 2-4 years.
According to Diversity Lab, over 360 law firms earned Mansfield Rule Certification for 2023–2024, marking a 13 percent increase in certified firms compared to the previous period. Hinshaw has also committed to the 2024–2025 Mansfield Rule Certification process.
The Mansfield Certification initiative is designed to enhance diversity in leadership within law firms by expanding candidate pools for leadership opportunities, including senior lateral attorney positions, equity partner promotions, and firm leadership and governance roles.
Firms must consider broad slates of qualified talent for leadership roles that include at least 30 percent historically underrepresented lawyers—such as women lawyers, underrepresented racial and ethnic lawyers, LGBTQ+ lawyers, and lawyers with disabilities.
Recent studies, including the data analysis published in The American Lawyer and the New York State Bar Association Task Force on Advancing Diversity Report, have noted how Mansfield has enhanced transparency and diversity in law firm leadership.
Since committing to Mansfield certification, Hinshaw's top governance body has increased representation from 44 percent to 66 percent, and diverse equity partner promotions have increased from 45 percent to 80 percent.
