Hinshaw Partners Aimee Delaney and Nicholas Legatos Recognized as Notable Gen X Leaders in Law by Crain’s Chicago Business

The law firm of Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP is pleased to announce that Hinshaw partners Aimee Delaney and Nicholas Legatos have been recognized by Crain’s Chicago Business as Notable Gen X Leaders in Law and are profiled in the series which was published online today and in print on June 3, 2019.

Aimee Delaney headed Hinshaw’s Labor & Employment Practice until her recent appointment to the firm’s Management Committee earlier this year. She led development of a new harassment and discrimination training program focused on LGTBQ issues and provides this training to employers, including a number of major institutions. Delaney also is one of three Hinshaw partners spearheading development of the firm’s Home Care Services practice.

Delaney was the only listed attorney also to be featured in an exclusive online Q&A by Crain's Chicago. In the Q&A, Delaney spoke about how her larger-than-life lawyer uncle helped inspire in her an interest in law and government; how she balances the demands of work and family; and why she is excited about younger lawyers bringing fresh ideas to the profession. 

Her Crain’s profile notes that Delaney is passionate about helping employers solve their employee issues. She counsels employers on all aspects of the employment relationship and represents employers in litigation matters. Recently she obtained a favorable ruling on behalf of an employer in an arbitration matter that preserved important management rights involved in the hiring process.

A graduate of Loyola University Chicago School of Law, she has been an adjunct professor at her alma mater for 12 years, teaching Employment Law and Employment Discrimination. She serves as pro bono counsel for Voices for Illinois Children.

Nicholas Legatos heads Hinshaw’s Real Estate Practice and represents clients throughout the U.S. in a wide variety of real estate-related transactions. His Crain’s profile notes that Legatos has represented a developer in a $1 billion project to transform a Texas industrial campus into a mixed-use, sustainable development. He also recently represented a developer in the financing of a $125 million construction loan, a landlord in a 100,000 square foot lease and a lender in the work out of a $66 million loan portfolio. Locally, he represented a developer in a deal that was praised by former Chicago Mayor Rahm Emmanuel for bringing a major grocery store to a Chicago neighborhood that had been considered a food desert.

As a founding member of the Hellenic American Leadership Council, Legatos has been involved in various civic leadership initiatives. He is a member of the Urban Land Institute as well as the local Chicago ULI Product Council. Legatos serves on the legal committee for the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Chicago. He earned his J.D. from the University of Illinois College of Law.
