The law firm of Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP is very pleased to announce the selection of attorney Vaishali Rao to the 2020 class of the Leadership Greater Chicago Fellowship, the region's premiere civil leadership development program. Rao was one of 48 professionals chosen from hundreds of applicants, and one of four private practice lawyers selected. The 2020 Fellows hail from a diversity of backgrounds and industry sectors – including corporate, nonprofit, government, education and entrepreneurship.
Founded in 1983, the LGC Signature Fellows Program is intended to immerse participants in the major public policy issues facing the City of Chicago and the Greater Chicago Region. Through a series of retreats, full-day seminars, site visits, discussion groups, and service projects, Fellows will explore critical community challenges, examine themselves as leaders and build transformative relationships of trust and collaboration.
Hinshaw sponsored Rao's nomination with Firm Managing Partner Robert T. Shannon serving in the role of official nominator. Rao carries on a Hinshaw tradition, with D.L. Morriss—the firm's current Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Partner—having served as an LGC Fellow in the 2016 class.
"I'm excited and honored to be part of such a dynamic and talented group of Fellows," said Rao. “I very much look forward to meeting all of the 2020 Class members, and I really appreciate my firm's support in making possible such a valuable professional development and civic leadership experience."
"As a firm, we are committed to providing our legal talent with opportunities to grow," said Shannon. "In hiring Vaishali, we saw in her the potential to be a leader not only in her profession but also the greater Chicago community. We congratulate her on her selection to the Signature Fellows Program, and wish her much success in the year-long Fellowship program to follow."
