Insurance Law Television host Scott Seaman, a Chicago-based partner and co-chair of Hinshaw's global Insurance Services Practice Group, and Shane Dilworth, senior insurance reporter for Law360, discuss a number of significant insurance law rulings in 2021 and cases to watch in 2022.
Our review of 2021 cases includes issues of:
- COVID-19 business interruption and civil authority insurance coverage (in 2021, there were approximately 2,100 COVID-19-related cases filed in federal and state courts across the country)
- Cyber/privacy
- recoupment
- legal malpractice
- priority of coverage among policies
Among the many cases to watch in 2022, are opioid coverage disputes and an important issue before the Texas Supreme Court regarding looking to extrinsic evidence to determine a duty to defend.
