Hinshaw Client Ungaretti & Harris LLP Secures $5.7 Million Judgment for Unpaid Attorneys' Fees

The Ungaretti & Harris LLP law firm – which merged with Nixon Peabody in 2015 – had its judgment for $5.7 million in attorneys' fees upheld by an Illinois state appeals panel. The unpaid fees stemmed from the firm's representation of Ronald J. Gidwitz and other members of the Gidwitz family in a dispute with the City of Joliet over a low income housing project.
Ungaretti/Nixon Peabody was represented on the appeal by Joe Power and Sean Houlihan of Power Rogers & Smith LLP and Thomas McGarry, Stephen Swofford and Caroline Mondschean of Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP.
"We are very pleased with the outcome of this long battle,” McGarry said. “As lawyers who represented their client in a vigorous and professional manner, our client was rightfully vindicated.”
